What we decided,and why

Canonical design decisions, dated. The living spec for each value lives in Foundations. This is the record of when it became canonical.

04Palette calibrated to the MN Cup deck
Adopted 2026-07-20
The decision
The canonical blue is #4878B8 and the warm accent is #A88858, sampled directly from the finalist pitch deck. Introduced a five-hue categorical accent system (teal, blue, green, violet, slate, gold) for the continuum-of-care and biomarker domains, and retired the terracotta accent, which the deck does not use.
RationaleThe system should mirror the colors the brand actually ships.
01Palette modes
Adopted 2026-07-07
The decision
Two canonical palette modes. Clinical / Cool is the default, for data, regulatory, financial, and technical surfaces. Editorial / Warm is for brand, consumer, and hero surfaces. The document type picks the mode. When in doubt, blue.

RationaleOne system spoke to clinicians, investors, and regulators at once; splitting it into a cool mode and a warm mode lets each surface read right without forking the brand.
02Marker
Adopted 2026-07-07
The decision
The clay Anthropic arrow, a line plus a chevron in #A88858, is the canonical list and section marker. It replaces bullet dots and diamonds everywhere.

Section and CTA markers
RationaleA directional marker reads as forward motion and points the eye to the next item; dots and diamonds only sit there. One marker, used consistently, makes lists feel like the same product.
03Focal numbers
Adopted 2026-07-07
The decision
Tiempos Fine serif carries display and KPI numbers, the ones a reader is meant to stop on. Die Grotesk with tabular-nums carries dense data tables, where digits must align in columns.

RationaleA hero metric should feel editorial and be felt; a table of forty rows should be scannable and align. Serif for the one number that matters, tabular sans for the many that must line up.
